Google Trends - A new release from Google

Google has released a new tool in order to update its Labs Products - Google Trends

From the horse's mouth -
"With Google Trends, you can compare the world's interest in your favorite topics. Enter up to five topics and see how often they've been searched for on Google over time. Google Trends also displays how frequently your topics have appeared in Google News stories, and which geographic regions have searched for them most often."

Its seems like it could be a useful tool in future for search engine optimizers and webmasters for getting more keyword selection with search amount within their targeted region from google.

For example -
Just compare "seo" and "ppc" keyword (see here) in google trends, you can easily understand how it works.

Google Trends will provide you -

  • Hot Trends list - fastest-rising searches for different points of time. These hot trends are made up of USA based queries only.
  • Comparision upto five terms by separating each term with a comma.
  • You can also exclude terms from your search by using the minus sign. To see how many searches contained the term "seo" but not "ppc," for instance, just enter maps -ppc.
  • Showing you how these both keywords are dense in search volumes & in news references volume with graphic view.
  • Giving you the preference to check search variations b/w your given compare keywords in specific country and year, even can check for a particular month with the drop down boxes under the search volume graphs of the Google Trends results page.

Currently, this tool is only available in English and Chinese with Hot Trends in English only.

Google Trends aims to provide insights into broad search patterns. Several approximations are used when computing your results. Please keep this in mind when using it.

I like this tool, what about you ?
